Lesson 6: The Birth of Discovery

In Lesson 6, we enter a highly pivotal phase known as "The Birth of Discovery." It is one thing to mentally understand the rules of proportion, but it is another entirely to execute them flawlessly on a blank sheet of paper.

Proving it on Paper

The most important part of figure drawing is proving that your artistic thinking is actually translating. We use this lesson to rigorously test your newfound mental toolkits. When you sketch out the human mannequin without referencing a textbook, you truly own that piece of knowledge.

Layering Concepts

Artistic thinking involves layering one concept on top of another. By repeatedly testing your memory on paper, you solidify the base layers, allowing us to soon add complex muscle groups and extreme foreshortening features.
