Hi guys, my name is Riven Phoenix and welcome to the structure of Man Learned to Draw
the Human Figure from your Mind Training Course.
So in the previous lesson, we basically concluded the first blueprints of our invention of
this toolkit that we're going to call the human figure.
Basically we're going to create everything from scratch and we've made a tremendous progress
in all these different angles of our invention of the figure, understanding all the rules
as to what it will follow when we're drawing it.
So this is basically the basic skeletal structure of our first understandings of the human
figure.
So what is going to happen is that when we are going through this process of the figure
is that basically to end up at this point, over here, enjoying the figure out like this,
what needs to happen is that we need to understand the complete structure of the human skeleton
in its actual bone forms in all the muscles as to how everything wraps around exactly
what point it's supposed to be because really we are the ones who are going to create everything
or by ourselves, we're going to decide the rules, we're going to decide how all the muscles
are supposed to look and where they're supposed to connect.
And this will allow us to draw figures without any effort, right?
It's a complete understanding of it.
So to finish this off, what we need to do is prove to ourselves that what we have done
is working.
And to do that, here I'm just going to draw out the three poses and this will help us
to get into the next lesson and that is the moment of discovery where we have to turn
the skeleton's basic structure that we're coming up with into a 3D form.
So to start out, I'm going to draw a line, I'm going to do the side view.
So I want you to do this completely for memory.
There's no reason to look at anything because the idea is for hours and they were very simple.
Right, so you're just going to draw a line here for the side view.
So the first rule was that once you have the height, you basically just divide this
in half, just be approximate, but be very close and approximate with it, right?
Once you have this, we divide this over here, we know that the knee has to be about this,
right?
And this is a crotch area.
This is the top of the head.
And then if we divide this in half, like this, we know that the bottom of the peg muscles
is going to be here from here, divide this in half, we know that the navel is supposed
to be here and where the peg is over here, we divide this in half, we get the bottom
of the chin.
Now in this discovery of the human figure, we're also discovering our drawing processes.
So once we put stuff like this down, we always want to just check if everything that we
put down is put down correctly, right?
You don't want to end up drawing something and then discover that you didn't measure
it.
Right?
Okay.
And we will look into this process even more.
So once we have this, we know that once we have this line, right, from here, from the
height of the head, if we divide this in half, went down, we really just need to draw
out a circle like this.
In here, we're just going to be sketchy about this.
Just draw it like you would, like an artist, right?
You got a circle over here and then over here, we decided that basically the jaw has to
be on the left side because it's facing this way.
So it's on this line here, just a little above, I'm just going to draw the jaw like this
and give it a nice curve over here and this will give me the head for my invention.
It was that simple, right?
This is again, falling that same concept on invention.
And here the neck, it's always going to be on an angle, which is going to draw a line
like this.
And we know that where the peck was, this is the bottom of the chin.
If we divide this in half, we get the area for the clavicle imaginary line over here.
We know that it's going to be a half point of this, right?
It's not going to be here, it's going to be the half point of this going down.
This is the pinpoint over the clavicle is going to be, we're going to go up, we're going
to stop here because we need to give a space here as we had understood from the front view
that when we drew out the clavicle, we drew out the chest cavity from the back, right?
So I'm just going to draw this out like this.
This is done.
I know that we had decided that when we draw out the chest cavity, when we go in this
direction, really where the back is, we're going to add just a half of this here, right?
I took the half here imaginary line.
And basically, I'm just going to come close to this, really just going to start to turn
because that's how much in the back is going to go, it's going to start to come towards
this direction, this is where the navel wasn't really, it's just above, right?
You don't have to measure it that much.
We know that it's going to be here here like this, right?
And when it comes here, it's going to curve over here.
Once it does this, we also know that where the front of this face is, it's the same thing.
If we took a hat from here to here, if we divided this in half, we just translated
here and it's going to be down here.
So meaning that it's got to be curved like this and it just comes like this, that's
easy.
So this should, this will give us an understanding of how the chest cavity is, okay?
So when we came down here, we know that from the navel and the crotch, if we divide
this in three different sections, one, two, and three, right, I put a line here, it's
really one, two, three, we know that the love handle is going to be here, right, and this
is where the navel is, it's obviously going to be here somewhere.
So if we drew out like this curve here, right, we know that over here, it's going to meet,
right?
So it has to, it's going to go here, just like this, right?
And we had just said that it's just going to be here, half of this over here.
And once we do this, we can get the pelvis area to look like this.
That's a very simple idea that we came up with for the design of this invention of the
human figure, right?
These are very basic rules.
And here we know that where this was the navel, the crotch, when we divide in three parts
over here, we're going to go to the left of this and we'll just draw out the bone over
here for the leg and we're just going to wear this area is for the above of the knee,
we're just going to curve this like this and really just make it balance itself.
So it doesn't fall over and this gives us the leg here for the foot.
I'm just going to keep this very simple for now because we haven't gotten far into that
understanding yet.
I'm just going to make it like this and this gives us the basic structure for the foot.
And obviously for the, where the arm is where the shoulder is going to be, we know that
the clavicle is going to come, remember, over here, here in the front wheel, we had said
it's got to be here.
So when it comes like this, it's just going to be right over here, right?
And then you can just draw out a line over here just like this.
And this is where the crotch is, remember the pendulum over here and just draw out like
a hand over here for now, just a circle, no big deal.
This is where the navel, sorry, this is where the navel is, the belly button and over
here like a pendulum, we know that the elbow is going to be roughly around here.
So this gives us the side of the human figure.
So now if we draw, I'm going to come around here and now I'm going to draw this, I might
overlap a little bit, that's okay.
And now here I'm going to draw it out from the front, which is very simple.
In concept, right, we divide this in half, just approximate it over here, like this.
And then over here, this is the bottom of the peck muscles, the navel, the bottom of
the chin, right?
Then over here, this is where the knees are going to be above this line.
So we are just going to make it like this here, right?
Sometimes you might put a line here, just measure it and make sure it's accurate.
And before moving on, just make sure that this is in the middle, you measure everything
pretty much correctly over here.
So once this is done, I'm going to now just draw out, remember, it's really the same thing.
From here to here, if I had, if I, from here to here, if I come in the middle, come down,
I know it's just going to be like a circle over here, right?
So it's just going to be like this, right?
We didn't draw the front of the head like this before, but I'm just showing you from
the front.
It would just be like this, that's where I'm getting the shape from, right?
So here I'm just going to erase that circle in here, I just wanted to show you that in
the back, you can do that when we get to that part.
Okay, so here's the bottom of the peck muscles over here, we're going to get the clavicle
see over here, it's the clavicle, then over here, is this guy over here, right?
You got that space, that's why I did it here because I need this area of the space here
to show.
Okay, so once we have this, we know that okay, we can start to make out the chest cavity
like this, just rough it in a little bit and just look at the height and just translate
it, obviously the nipples are not going to be on the line of the bottom of the peck
muscles, they're going to be above.
So here I'm just going to curve it in just like this, right?
This is where the nipples are to the right, just go like this, just sketch it out, just
be rough about it, and here's the needle from, and this is the bottom of the peck muscles.
So if I divided this section in half, came down, I knew it was just going to be here, right?
Just like this, and here I can just make a circle over here, right?
So once we had this, now the understanding of this is very simple, we knew that it's
really just the imaginary line over here, we knew that over here where the navel is, it's
really just dividing this in three different sections, we knew that the junction was going
to be here, right?
But meaning that we had changed this and said, well, if the junction is here, we're really
just going to make this into a three-dimensional top over here of this here in Eclips, over
here, right?
I'm drawing this top here like this, right?
And making sure that I'm not drawing it here, right?
It's got a match over here to this over here, pretty much.
I'll just come over here like this, and that's it, and this junction here for this can
just go like this, and that's it, right?
And then once we have this, we knew that this line here, right, it was divided in three
different parts, we knew that the ball joint is going to be roughly around here, right?
It's got to be roughly around here, matching this, just a little side of this, so I'm just
going to put it like this.
So see how on chain, just doing it more artistically is just because it's our invention, our idea,
so we can do it in our own style.
And for the leg here, I'm just going to make it like this, over here, and make this leg
over here like this, just pull the lines in here, I'm just going to do the foot like
this, make it very easy, and then once we get more knowledge, we can begin to understand
this more, this area of the foot.
So here is the line for the half of this, right?
So here, when I'm looking at it, I'm seeing that I should have really, let's put it like
about here, so it should be like here, right?
So these are the things that you can adjust as you're going through that process, okay?
So once we have this, this is the navel area over here, so we can just, I mean, we don't
have to put a line here, we know that the navel is going to be here, and this is where
the clavicle is, we know it's an obvious statement that it cannot collide here, so here
I'm just going to just look at this, look at this, and just put the structure here, the
clavicle.
Remember, this has to be up, meaning that this is like a curve going in this up direction,
right?
And once we have this, here, we can just draw out the line for the arms, where the crotch
area is, we know that the wrist is going to be here, draw it the hand like this, where
the navel is, like a pendulum, right?
Then I got the elbow, and over here, just do the same exact thing.
Here, just draw out the hand and over here, for the pendulum, just draw it out like this,
so we've got the front done, right?
So we've proved this, and we've proved this, and the last thing we need to prove is the
back.
So for the back, just going to do it over here, this is going to be pretty easy now for
you.
Right, it's very simple, just find the middle, and then over here, I'm going to do it
over here, or above, line for the, where the knee is supposed to be above, over here
is going to be the bottom of the peck, the chin, and then the navel, right?
So from the back, now I can just draw it the way I did it here, from this here, I'm going
to divide this in half, go here, I know that this is just, needs to be like a, like a circle
over here, and that's it, and just draw it out again, in the same way, I'm just going
to shade this in, that this is the back of the, this, the structure of our toolkit, invention,
and here we know that this is where the clavicle is going to be, so obviously, it's just going
to be here.
Now you can just look at this and say, okay, it's just going to be like this, you don't
have to put the nipple zone every time, just get used to the idea of eyeballing this stuff,
this is the navel, right above this, right?
It's really just from here to here, divide this in half, but you should, you shouldn't
even have to do that, you can just eyeball it and do it this way, and that's it, this
gives us the back, right, over here, and this is going to be very simple, as if we
because we know that we are going so up high over here, up high here, it's really just
going to be like this, right, it's just going to come like this, I didn't even have to
measure anything, because I know what it is, right, so you'll see how easy it is now to
draw this area where we couldn't do it before, it's because the mind isn't there, the
information, but we made it understand, right, we know that this is the back of here, this
guy here curving, and this obviously if you could like dot it, that this is the other side,
and obviously from here if you divide this in three sections, you know that obviously
this circle is going to be here, you're going to look visually here, right, where this
is supposed to be, and then here we can just put down the leg over here, another leg over
here, and just be sketchy about, and that's it, so we've got the back, and then obviously
the knees are going to be about this, over here, so for this shoulder it's going to be
very simple, you know the navel is here, right, and you know that the clavicle is here,
so you know that over here it's got to be obviously over here because you know it cannot
collide, it's got to be in this area, right, so usually you can just do like this that
quick, and just put the lines for going in the back, and here I'm just going to draw
out the hand here, again over here is the crotch, I know that this is where the wrist is
going to be, the navel from the other side, obviously this is where the elbow is going
to be, and then over here, I need to do this, right, the wrist area, and over here I've got
the back, right, so we've proven that what we've been doing is obviously working, and our
understanding of the design of the human figure is increasing very rapidly in the mind, right,
so we've proven this also, so I'll see you in the next lesson, thanks.
