Hey guys, my name is Riven Phoenix, and welcome to the Structure of Man, Learn to Draw
of a Human Figure from your Mind Training course.
Okay, so from the previous lesson, we had gone through this exercise of really helping
the mind so it can start to understand how to use these very simplified formulas to
start to create a human skull in a three-fourths view, and here we basically accomplished that
goal.
Right?
We proved the concept, the power of using formulas to force the mind to see how this construction
is created and from within those formulas, be able to really take out all the things
that we need and simplify them so much that we can just draw it out like this, right?
So in the original idea of Da Vinci, where we had looked at his drawings, right, we had
looked at this drawing here, right, so we could say that through, in his drawings, what
he's trying to state through this drawings is not only the power of the formulas, but
he's also getting to this idea of being able to just draw a free hand without any effort,
right?
And this is being accomplished by using formulas because we got the mind to see how this skull
is structured, right?
It's not really possible to look at a human skull in 3D form and just draw it in somehow
remembering, right?
We're just going to be able to look at it and draw it, but in order for us to be able
to draw it from the mind, we have to go through this process, meaning that what Da Vinci
is saying is obviously true and here we can see the proof of this that we're proving
it also that when we created our own formulas, we were able to do the same thing.
So now the next thing that we need to do is that we just need to draw out the human skull
in different angles and really just get the mind used to the idea of how it's going
to solve, let's say, drawing the skull from the front, from the three-fourth view again,
from the side and looking away from us, how about when it's tilted up and when it's tilted
down?
So that's what we're going to do.
And the thing to learn, to take away from these exercises is the experience of how
you went through the solving process of getting the mind really used to that idea, right?
It's coming down to be able to speak your ideas in sentences.
So if someone asks you, how are you drawing?
The human skull, you can actually explain to them from a mastery point of view that this
is how you do it.
So to start out, what we'll do is over here, I'm just going to draw the front of the
human head.
So I'm going to, let's say, we can do it about this big here, right?
So let's do it kind of like big over here, like this.
So we can fit about maybe three or four skulls on this piece of paper.
So here I'm just going to draw out a circle over here first, right?
I'm just going to be sketchy about it, right?
So now the thing about the idea of the formulas is that we really not interested in the measurements
of it.
We already know how to measure all the locations vertically, right?
And we know that as soon as we draw the circle, right, it's going to give us the width of
the skull, right?
Because we already proved it over here that we don't even have to measure anything.
You just need a ball shape, right?
And you can do different variations on it.
You can stretch the ball a little bit if you wanted to.
So once we have this, we really can now just divide this ball in half, right?
Here we're just creating the mind to see.
And then if we take a look at this divided in half, we know that just this section, we
need to translate it about here.
Now this is where you can even go down if you wanted to.
It doesn't really matter, right?
Obviously, you're not going to go down here.
If you're trying to do kind of like realistic figure drawings, you would definitely have
to come around here, right?
If you want to do different character designs, you can come down here or even long get it.
You can experiment with that idea.
So let's say here's my initial idea here, right?
To see how we're doing because we have the power of the formulas, we can mess around
with them a little bit.
So once we have this, we know that we just need to find the center of this hole from
here to here to find the center and this is going to be the center line to where the
eyes are supposed to be.
Now notice how I'm being sketchy about everything over here, right?
And I know that over here, if I divide this in half from here and go down, I know that
this is roughly about where the brow is going to be basically the same place where I marked
the original line to divide this circle, right?
So once we have this, we know that the jaw line is obviously from here, if I take this
over here, right?
The original idea was that if you divide this over here, then divide here, then come back,
right?
This will give you the jaw line, right?
But we really didn't have to even divide it.
So because the thing is that if you look at this, it's really just halfway here and
just a little bit to the left.
So over here, when we know this, we can just go a little bit to the left and do the same
thing, right?
This is we can now do it freehand, even simplify it even more.
So once we come down over here, we know that it's going to turn over here, but we know
it's going to be here, right?
It's got to turn somewhere in here.
So to understand that, we knew as soon as we had the brow area, if we took this height
over here and divide it in half, we would get where the nose is supposed to be and we
could now divide this into three different parts, we get the mouth area.
So basically under the mouth, we can say that the jaw starts to turn just like this, right?
So when you're drawing this, you want to look at this thing from the outer view, a top
down view and make sure that you're basically just doing it right over here.
I know that this is where the mouth is going to be, okay?
So we're looking at how to do the front.
So once we have this, we know that over here, right, we got the brow area, we divided
this in half, really just got this line over here, where the temple is going to be.
And we said that, yeah, the nose can be a little down, right, over here.
So really, I'm just going to do the nose like this, right?
I'm just showing you different variations of it that you can adjust this.
When we do the three, four, three, we'll basically do it here, but you can bring it down
if you want it to, right?
It doesn't really matter, right?
Because you're going to have different variations with us calling it.
So this part is really the easy part now, right?
Because we had said originally from here to here, right?
When you divide this in half, you got this.
If you go in here, you make like a square, right?
So you can just look at this, right?
You can just eyeball this and say that, okay, well, I'm going to decide that the eyes from
here to here, like a square is really just going to be here.
I'm going to eyeball this around here, right?
So look at the space over here that we will have to adjust this a little bit later on.
Right?
So it was really easy.
All we know that because we had to do this box is really just a box shape.
As long as the ratio over here comes down with the noses, the eye socket just needs to fit
within this idea over here.
And that's really it.
Right?
So when you draw these out, just make sure that they were pretty much proximity the same
size over here.
Right?
So just look at this space.
Look at this space.
Right?
So from here, we already know what to do.
We just go like this and over here, I just need to make basically an idea here that from
here, see, from here, it's going like this, it's just going to be like this opening here
for this call.
I'm going to like do it like organic looking over here and over here the same thing, doing
it this way over here and just remembering the points where you're supposed to connect
to.
Right?
So once in the points, just when you've done it the other one right here, just look at it
and make it organic looking like this.
So once we've done this, everything else is simple.
We know that okay, well, really I can just do a line like this going down here.
See?
Let's go back to the formula and see what we need to understand about this.
See when we do go down over here, we know that it's going to be right below it a little
bit anyway.
Right?
Below this center line here over here.
So here, I'm just going to go like this over here and say that that's what it's going
to be.
And look, even where the circle is going, this helps us from the front view only that it
just gives us the ability because it's going back to this idea here anyways, right?
We had said that when you go like this, you're just coming down here.
So you know that it's going to be here.
So basically where this is, just roughly around here, you can go like this and you've got
the basic idea for the skulls down, right?
It's going to be just like this.
Right?
If you haven't seen an actual skull, I would recommend to look at it because you already know
how to draw it.
And when you look at it, you will get more information from it and you can add to the ideas that I'm
showing you, things that are more customized to your stuff, right?
You might notice that there's a small notch that you always like to pull on the skull.
You can do that.
Right?
It doesn't, it's up to you, but this just helps you understand how to do it.
And here basically we can just do the jaw like this, right?
So we know they've pretty much got it.
And these sections over here, see these things here that I'm doing?
This is obviously this guy over here, right?
This guy over here, this guy over here.
So look where this is going, right?
We have to look at it in this way where we made the line for the eye, line for the eye,
look where this goes and look where this goes, right?
So here we can just make it just like this over here, and here I can just go above and
do this, go above, do this.
And that's it.
And then I can just come in here and just squeeze it in a little bit, right?
Just start to make it look like the skull that I wanted to look like.
So that gives you a very good idea of how to do that.
So here we can now just lightly erase these concepts, just leave the anomalies behind.
And now you can start to add all your cool details here, start to make it more realistic
and stuff, right?
So here I'm just going to do my own kind of skull here, just add my own variations of these
lines here, right?
I know that there's going to be like a cut over here.
Usually I just keep my ideas very simple here, just like I'm showing you, right?
So I just want to do like conceptual idea over here for the skull.
Because I have this, I know that this is really just going to be here, like this over here,
right?
And I'm going to come over here and to just do it this way over here.
And then here we can just add different lines here to start to make it more realistic
looking over here, right?
So all these are the teeth I'm going to be here.
So you can add those if you want to over here, right?
The teeth are just going to be like this over here, right?
We can just add them like this, right?
It's just a conceptual idea here.
What we're really interested in is the ability to draw these skulls out.
Okay, so here I can just shade this in a little bit over here, just like this, right?
So I can work on this all day and do different things with it, make it more and more realistic
looking.
But you get the idea that how we were able to simplify that concept, right?
Okay, so now let's draw, draw it in three-fourths of you again, right?
So here we'll do another ball shape, right?
So usually like some of the variations you can do, you can do it like a ball shape over
here or you can do it a little more elongated if you want to, right?
Make it like a little bit longer, right?
It's the different type of skull that you're looking for.
So once we have this, we know that we just need to know the center of this over here.
We're doing a three-fourths view here, right?
So here's going to be the line over here, right?
I can just eyeball this and say, okay, well, I'm in the halfway here.
So I'm just going to come about here, right?
And then I'm going to find the half of this ball over here like this.
Okay.
So here's the thing to know, get yourself to understand.
Once you get this line here and once you divide this, let's just go back to the formulas
so we can remember this, right?
So in this circle here, see, as soon as I put the line with the bottom of this,
I know that the jaw is just going to start turning and go,
and halfway of this is where the jaw is, right?
So as soon as you do this, you know the halfway here is where the jaw is,
but all the way to the bottom, see, all the way to the bottom?
It's basically going to start to curve in this direction, right?
So it's here, goes here and here.
And that's it.
We just get the basic idea of it over here like this, right?
And then we just need to find the center of this whole head over here.
We can say that it's just going to be just like this,
kind of like going in perspective.
And we already said that, okay, we can just put a line here.
Look at this and just make an assumption that your idea is that line for the eye is going to be here.
So now let's just talk about how we did this box over here so we can do it here too.
The eyebrows over here, the bottom of the chin, if I divide this in half,
I know that the nose is going to be here and I know that I'm going to get the line to go in here.
Just like this, right?
The line goes here, I get my nostril, the nose area over here.
And I already know that I just need a box shape because it has to be half way here anyways, right?
It's going to be like this box here, over here.
And that box shape is also going to be on the other side.
So this will clue you in as to, okay, I see how to start to begin to just do these ideas much more quicker in this way, right?
It's just this idea here and because we have the box shape over here,
we can also look at it from that angle and just start to put that idea like this, right?
So remember that this is going in and over here it is here, right?
This is the front.
This is, look how back it goes when it's, this is the front and it's twisting around.
It's turning in this angle and it's coming over here.
So this way it's going to be the same thing.
It's really just going to go get buried in there that'll come out this way.
So this is going to be easy.
We already did this over here.
We know that it's below the nose and this ratio here is over here.
So I know it's just going to be here, right?
Where the line is center line, I know it's going to come like this and go here because we already talked about this area.
It's really just going to go here and I can do my own, own kind of cheekbone over here, just like this very quickly.
And then I know that the jaw is going to be here.
We talked about this ratio here.
See this ratio, it's over here so the jaw is here too.
When it's, when the mouth is closed and then here I can just roughly put this idea here.
I know that I just need to divide this in three different parts and I'll just get the,
the mouth area over here giving me enough room for the, the chin, right?
So here you can just roughly put this idea in like this and make any corrections as we move through that.
Process, but obviously the, the idea of the year is about this, right?
So the year is obviously going to be coming out, but for now I just want you to just,
what we're doing is right now just putting this on really like a sticker on the skull, right?
We haven't even learned to draw the area.
So once we have this, we can now look at this and make any adjustments, right?
I want to make sure that that's coming down a little more over here and just look at this,
just like this and then once I have this, I can now again erase this stuff and start really designing it, right?
Remember this goes in and comes out.
This is a very important, I'm bringing this up here because this section here is going to be very crucial
when we get into surface anatomy and we're drawing out the human head.
Just remember that it goes in over here, right?
And then we're going to get the skull like this, right?
I can just sketch it out in this way over here and this is really just going in and coming out in that direction.
I'm just going to darken it up and then over here we talked about this.
We know that there's a temple area, right?
This more is going to be more straight.
The flat line area is going to be after this division of the half line over here.
And I'll just come back around, right?
So if you look at the formulas here, you can see that where the year where the bottom of this is,
if you look at it this way, it's where the year is really, right?
So I mean, we know that it's just going to be here anyways, right?
Just like that and then just bring it in like this, right?
Do like different variations of the skull.
But so you can see that we can now really just speak this out in a sentence as to how to draw the human skull.
But we can explain it away without much effort, right?
And I think I'm happy with the way this looks.
This is where the year is going to be placed, right?
Has to be the bottom of the nose and the top of the brow area.
OK, so lastly, we need to now do the skull from the side view over here, right?
So for the side view, it's going to be very simple.
We just draw, again, we can draw out a ball shape just like this.
Let's do, I'm not going to really clean this one up since I'm going or we can just do this much more of a sketchy style here.
OK, so we divide this in half, right?
We already know it's going to come down here here.
And I know it's just going to be here as soon as I make that line, right?
We talked about this.
We know that the chain is just going to the jaw bone is just going to turn here.
We know the jaw is over here like this.
And we know that this is the brow and this is obviously going to be the side line, the center of the eyes.
And just just by knowing this, we cannot turn in, go like this and bring, bring out the nose over here.
And over here, this is where the nose is going to be, right?
Just like this, I do like a different variation of it.
And we divide this in three different parts.
We know that the mouth will be just going to be over here, coming like this.
And then for this, we know that it was really just three, four, three.
I did the same thing here that I had shown you that I did this, right?
I just looked at this and knew it's going to be here.
And it's just going to be like this.
So I know it's just going to go like this over here, kind of like this, right?
Notice that when I did the circle, it's a different type of a off-scal.
Right? We know that where the line is, it's just going to go here, right?
We're going to go like this, see?
Where the line was for the eye, look how down this is.
So here, I'm just going to use that knowledge face and really just come down.
About here for this one and circle it like this.
And I know that the cheek is obviously just going to go like this over here, right?
So this is much more of a different variation of that skull, right?
It looks more different, right?
So if I wanted to, let's say change this, right?
I could have longed it this a little more, right?
Give it like a different design aspect of it.
But here I'm just showing you that just by using these photos,
you're not somehow locked down, right?
You can do all sorts of character designs in different ways, right?
So for example, here, I'm just going to stretch this out just a little bit over here.
I know that the position for the ears is just going to be here, right?
And here, let's just do a skull like this over here, right?
Very fast over here and then just go like this and you're going to get the jaw over here.
So obviously the teeth are just going to be over here, right?
Different variations of it.
So over here, I know that where this ear is, this is really going to do the bottom of the skull,
right? So I can now erase this stuff here, right?
So you see how different it looks from the side, like I did a different version of it.
And if I pull this to the side, it starts to look more alien, right?
So here, like, would be your nose, just to show you that that's how big the nose is supposed to be, right?
And then your top lip would have been here and your bottom lip goes here,
then your the chin area and over here, you're going to get the idea of,
I mean, I'm just showing you some extra stuff here, right?
So it would be like this going in that direction, right?
So I'm just making sure you understand that what I'm showing you is it's going to work, right?
Okay, so I'll see you in the next lesson.
Thanks.
